National Cable Electronic Data Interchange

The purpose of this site is to inform, educate and keep the national cable industry up to date on Electronic Commerce. In this section of @ccess CAB, you will find information regarding the implementation of Electronic Data Interchange in the national cable arena, including the missions, meeting schedules, structure and purpose of each of the committees formed to implement EDI in the cable marketplace. This site will also serve as a place to find answers to frequently asked questions about EDI and, most importantly, keep the information flowing about changes, which occur regarding implementation of this technology.

Currently, the CAB is working with the American Association of Advertising Agencies and Mediaport in order to move forward with serialization and change transaction processing.  Mediaport is an independent company formed by Interpublic, Omnicom and WPP to establish EDI across all media.  Mediaport is using TECC v3.1 standards as the blueprint for developing standards for all other media.

The CAB is also a member of the AAAA Local Broadcast EDI Task Force.

Also included on this page is the ability to download The Electronic Commerce Committees (TECC) standards. TECC was formed as an ad hoc committee to create and maintain standards. Currently, version 3.1 of the specifications can be found by clicking on the "Standards and Information" link listed below. Here, you'll be able to find an executive summary overview which gives management an idea of what the benefits of EDI are, business objectives and the resources necessary for implementing EDI.
